How Kendo players’ foot and leg work when making a strike

(Comments welcome in both English and Korean / 덧글은 한글, 영문 모두 가능)

This clip is part of the DVD that comes with a really nice book called “剣道選手の打突のしくみ”, or “Striking System of Kendo Players” if I translate roughly.
I personally believe that how people make a jump, or how people operate their legs and foot, when making a strike is so critical in terms of how they develop their Kendo.
As a matter of fact, I actually see that more than 60%+ of the Kendo population, excluding those who are kind of semi-professional, do this wrong. Also, I rarely see those who can teach this in a way beginners can actually understand.
As I heard from other high level senseis, 80% of Kendo is about your lower body if we look from physical point of view.
I hope you find this clip useful and feel free to post comments or send me an email if you have any question.
